When my good friend JG decided to come into town for the weekend to hang out with friends and see our new place, we obviously had to find the right spot for brunch. Out of the loop on the latest hot spots, I found myself scrambling to try find a good spot. Thankfully I didn’t let them down with my selection, 33 Greenwich.
Touted for a contemporary take on Southern fare, I knew that with 2/3 of our group being Bama girls this was going to be either a big hit or a big miss. We were instantly impressed when we were greeted by their cocktail menu – both innovative and visual in nature.
Not usually ones to get brunch starter dishes, we naturally made an exception here when we saw there were beignets on the menu. Definitely a must have – they came with just enough for us each to have two and we’re accompanied by two types of dipping sauces.
Among the three of us, we ended up trying most of their egg dishes. For my main, I tried their eggs any way – scrambled – which included three organic Hudson Valley eggs, toasted hash browns and a choice of bacon, sausage or tempeh bacon. JG went with their avocado toast (pictured, below) with poached eggs, which was served atop a slice of seven grain pullman bread with pecan, pesto, burrata and basil. And JB gave their 33 BEC a try – which was Benton Bacon, a sunny side up egg, pimento cheese, fried green tomato, red onion and avocado.
Overall verdict? Hard to go wrong with eggs, or brunch in general, at 33 Greenwich.Would love to go back!
