We’ve been curious to check out the Crayola Experience in Easton, Pennsylvania for a while. A relatively short drive for us, we figured this would be an easy day trip to check out this week with the kids. Less than an hour’s drive and we were there with them to explore.
The upside to going during the week is that there were no lines or crowds to maneuver to check out the various activities spanning the four floors. Q is just really getting into coloring so it was a perfect time to take him. There were so many opportunities for him to color on each floor.
There was a “show” where a Crayonologist shows how crayons are made – from melting the wax to pouring it out to cooling and then adding the wrappers. Q was intrigued to watch this all happen, demonstrated on the original style machine used back to the early days of the company.
There are also a number of activities throughout that cost additional money so beware! We were lucky that he’s young enough that he kind of went along with us pulling him in different directions. Otherwise you’ll need to be prepared to encourage your kids away from those of you aren’t wanting to spend the extra money. All-in-all, we were there for around three hours.
Afterwards, we made our way across the street to Stoke, a coal-fired pizza restaurant. During the week they have a $12 personal pizza lunch special that comes with one of two salads — personal being on the very generous side of a pizza for one.
I ordered the Sweet Heat, which was mozzarella, hot capicola, marinara and spicy honey sauce. T got the Fig & Pig, which was mozzarella, balsamic fig spread, prosciutto, and bechamel, topped with arugula. Both were delicious in very different ways.
The kid’s pizza was basically the same size for $5! What a bargain. Super friendly servers and fast service. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area or following a visit to Crayola!
