all the sweets at bovella’s

April 8, 2019 by Lara Leave a Comment

It’s pretty obvious if you’ve been following this blog for a while, but I love desserts. Sweets are my weakness. When we moved out of New York City, I wasn’t sure I’d find anything at the same level of some of Manhattan’s gems. Thankfully I was wrong!

There are two different locations for Bovella’s – one in Westfield and one in Mountainside. The newest one is in Mountainside but I have a special soft spot for the Westfield location as it’s the one I used to visit with my mom when we wanted to get away for a sweet treat.

The location in Mountainside has a cafe in addition to the bakery that serves both breakfast and lunch. The menu ranges from pancakes and french toast to savory items like frittatas, sandwiches and burgers. Besides being superbly Instagrammable, the food here is amazing.

My favorite dishes here on the sweet side, including their pumpkin pancakes in the fall, their Nutella french toast and their cinnamon apple crunch french toast (pictured below).

Recently when I found out I didn’t have to eliminate dairy after all for Baby L (more about that earlier adventure here), I knew exactly where we should go to celebrate!

Every time I go, I have to have one of their cappuccinos. They are by far the best I’ve found in New Jersey! The excellent foam is topped off with a decorative drizzle of caramel and raspberry syrup that adds a touch of flavorful sweetness. I’m usually not a fan of added syrups but it just works here.

If I’m visiting the cafe, a post-meal trip to the bakery side is a must for something to go. They have an incredible of all sorts of bakery items ranging from bite-sized desserts to full sized cakes to breakfast treats. They also have the best cheese danishes I’ve found since leaving Alabama, though they’re usually only available on the weekend. A must visit if you’re in the area!

Mountainside Location – 1085 Route 22 East – 908-228-2937

Westfield Location – 101 E Broad Street – 908-232-4149
