T has been wanting to check out the Beyond the Streets exhibit since it opened back on June 21. If you haven’t been yet yourself, you’re in luck! There are still a few weeks left to grab tickets for yourself before it’s close on September 29th.
Occupying two full floors of the building at 25 Kent, the range of art is impressive. It includes both framed art previously created and artwork artists created within the walls of the space itself specifically for this exhibit. Once the exhibit concludes, the latter pieces will be gone.
I really loved the below piece from VHILS. He created it by hand-carving old advertising posters to recreate the easily identifiable New York City skyline. This particular piece was massive!
They had quite an extensive amount of works by Faile on display, including a number of the collective’s prayer wheels. Wasn’t mad about that at all. We went to Les Ballets de Faile when the NYC Ballet did the special show during their 2013 season.
There was also one room in the show we almost missed! Below you can see T and I in the interactive room from Bill Barminski. It was one of the few spaces within the exhibition where you can interact with everything – pick it up, move it around, you name it!
As always, excited to see Swoon. The last time I think I’ve seen Swoon was in the Submerged Motherlands exhibit she did at the Brooklyn Art Museum. This show had a few pieces by her display, as well as one for sale (assuming it hasn’t sold out!) in their store. You can also peruse a number of the items to buy here in the online version of their store.
There was essentially an entire room of Shepard Fairey, so if you’re a fan you are in luck here! Below is one of the ones I liked the most out of the show. This photo comes close to capturing how vibrant this one was in person.
Below is a print by Pose that was also for sale in their store. Loved the bold colors and overall style of this one.
25 Kent Avenue – Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Some of this art is so cool! I like street art because it’s often unexpected and completely unique. I think it’s great when people find ways to constructively express their talents and create street-inspired art.
