cherry crest adventure farm – ronks, pennsylvania

July 23, 2023 by Lara Leave a Comment

For our recent trip to the Lancaster area, we packed up our car and drove straight to Cherry Crest Adventure Farm in Ronks, Pennsylvania. Cherry Crest is a short trip over from Lancaster and was one of our favorite sites from last year’s trip. We definitely had to head back this year.

Sweet Corn Festival

This year, we were there for their Sweet Corn Festival so there were a few additional things going on throughout the day. There were activities involving corn — which included corn husk dolls, a corn eating contest and a live band. And we embraced the corn in our own way by enjoying eating some ears of hot sweet corn as well. I think Q would have loved to do the corn eating contest but I wasn’t sure he was quite ready for that!

About the Farm

Cherry Crest has been around since the 1700s (!) but the current family has owned and operated it since 1987. The farm spans 15 acres. It was originally known for its corn maze but is now so much more.

Throughout the year they celebrate other festivals and offer seasonal you-pick options S well, such as sunflowers, pumpkins, zinnias and even popcorn!

Activities

The farm has more than 50 different activities — the majority of which are included in the cost of your admission.

I missed out on the fun last year but was glad I tried the straw bale racer. It’s a bit of a hike up the hill but racing down the slide on a burlap sack was a blast. Even more fun holding Q’s hand as he was squealing with joy!

This year we didn’t do it, but last year we had a great time in their corn maze. It’s 5 acres and has over 2.5 miles of paths! Younger kids can focus on the maze itself and older kids can do the clues and activities that are included throughout the maze. So well done!

Our kids also love Sproutville, their mini town set up where kids can run around to various parts of the town, interact and even dress up! You can usually find our daughter there delivering mail and our son trying to enforce the law as a police officer.

Before leaving, we made some massive bubbles! Not quite the way I envisioned cooling off but I guess it worked out in the end. Another great trip! We will definitely be back on our next trip to the area.
