When you take two girls from the NYC metro area and give them one nice meal to share together in Seattle, I’m sure that the top choice you’d guess is pizza, right? Probably not, but as you’ll see below, perhaps it should be!
I had only a few extra hours between when we arrived back in Seattle the trek back from Write Doe Bay (drive, ferry, drive) and my flight back to the right coast. We decided to make the most of it, hitting up the Space Needle and grabbing dinner. Someday Seattle, I promise – I’ll return for a proper visit. This is my second time in Seattle that didn’t really count as a visit. Next time! Anyhow, Zeeks Pizza caught our eye as it had great reviews and the upside of being so close to the Space Needle.
No reservations were necessary. In fact, there’s no reservations at the restaurant at all. We went at a slightly off peak time, and were immediately seated. While we weren’t particularly impressed by the Space Needle (currently under construction, which did not help), the dinner was the opposite. Hungry from a long day, we started with their chopped salad – the usual mix of romaine, chicken, salami, mozzarella, garbanzo beans, red onions, tomatoes, fresh red pepper, crouton and balsamic vinaigrette. Our server recommended it and I’ll say she did not lead us astray. The salad came very quickly, which made for a nice fresh start to the meal.
When it comes to pizza, the selections at Zeek are varied and solid – grouped into tomato base, “creative” base (from peanut to ranch base) and olive oil base. We had a hard time honing in our choice from this impressive list, including creative names such as the “Kitchen Sink”, the “Yeti” and the “Weekend Hippie.” In the end, the “Dragon” won out. A mix of pepperoni, double Italian sausage, fresh jalapeño and fresh garlic this one lived up to it’s bold name.
Not sure I would have thought of Seattle pizza of a thing but I do now. Highly recommend this spot if you’re ever in the area.

oh my! that pizza looks really original! Having adopted the Italian culture more than 20 years ago, when I see the American varieties of pizza (and coffee) am I always surprised by how much creativity it’s put into it.

A salad is always a good choice, and your pizza looks delicious! And wow, is there a thing as pizza with peanut base? That sounds risky to me 😀
