December 4th is Choose Women Day, but let’s be real. In my book, every day is. There are so many amazing companies I’m proud to support that have become such a part of my life. I wanted to share some of my favorites, below.
Spanx
Spanx has been one of my favorites for years. They are the best tights I’ve found out there and are also the ones I lived in while pregnant both times. Magic. This fall I’ve discovered their amazing pleather leggings — one to stalk if you don’t already have in those post-Christmas holiday sales. I also love Sarah Blakely’s story of how she first founded the company – only with $5K and a good idea. It’s an expiring story of how you don’t always have to have it figured out 100% when you take a leap.
IT Cosmetics
Even before the line was available at retailers like Sephora, I was ordering this QVC darling directly off of their website. IT Cosmetics is amazing. Their founder, Jamie Kern Lima, gets the real challenges of the skin of real women. Their products are developed with plastic surgeons to create products that don’t just sound good — they’re clinically proven to work.
ban.do
ban.do is such a fun company. They have a fun range of products such as clothing, accessories and gifts. The company was launched by cofounders Jen Gotch and Jamie Coulter with only a total of $600! I love that Jen is 100% herself on social media. She’s a vocal advocate of mental health, sharing openly about her own struggles.
Local Color NYC
I’ve shared about this fun spot before, but can’t exclude one of my Brooklyn favorites, Local Color NYC. Chrissy is a one woman operation and does all the hard work finding some of the most fun fashion and accessory options so you don’t have to! And an added bonus. All of her selections are made in the USA.
Posh Peanut
I love this brand of clothing and accessories for little ones and their mamas! We used Posh Peanut’s matching mama robe and baby swaddle set for the in-hospital shoot after our Baby Girl’s birth. Their clothing uses bamboo, the perfect soft fabric for sensitive baby skin. Not only is it breathable, it’s eco-friendly. Follow them on Instagram stories and you’ll see lots of explanations and peeks at new products directly from founder Fiona Sahakian.
Peanut
Peanut is a relatively new networking app that makes it easy for moms of all stages to connect. There are several useful elements to the app. You can view matches — think Tinder for mamas — to find fun friends closeby that share your interests. You can also opt in for subgroups that align with your local market. The app recently expanded their target audience to also include those trying to conceive! It’s a great company focused on giving moms an easy way to find the right support. Click here to check it out!
Project Physique
I’d be remiss to not include a shoutout for my favorite local studio, Project Physique, led by the fabulous Katye Kane Stanzak. The studio, which is located in Summit, New Jersey, offers classes in cycling, Pilates, barre and yoga. They also offer a specialty series focused on moms, allowing for you to bring your baby with you (in their car seat or another seat of sorts) and tackle getting back into exercise at a friendly speed. Loved their Project Mommy + Me so much! (See more on this great series here.)
What are some of your other female-owned faves? Share them in the comments!
