After Q was born, there was a brief period in which I couldn’t wear my “normal” clothes. I finally bought some super stretchy jeans a size up and half a year later, I was back into most of my wardrobe — though they were admittedly snug.

As I expected, after having L a number of those items? No longer an option. And the truth is they probably never will be. My ribs are wider. I have curves like never before, my feet are longer and even my vision is altered. I had a brief freak out moment and then I looked at the stack of “no ways” and realized over half were things I hadn’t worn in years, many of which are no longer in style anyway.

After so many months during the fall and winter wearing dark maternity and nursing clothing, I realized what I needed. I could mourn the loss of my former frame or I could embrace it in all its new glory with styles that celebrate it vibrantly for the strong thing it is. I opted for the latter and, I have to say, I’ve felt amazing ever since.

My Lilly-loving friend Theodora bought a super cute Lilly Pulitzer shift dress. I decided I had to buy myself one thing in the same print to match … and that was all it took to get me started. Since then, I’ve bought a number of things to add a bit of fun into my wardrobe going into the warm months ahead. It felt appropriate to share this today — both the first day of summer and National Wear Your Lilly Day.

I spent a lot of time again heeding my own advice. I tried on all the things I owned, I took a close look and if it didn’t work, I either sold it on Poshmark to fund my new clothing needs or donated it. Here’s my closet after. Loving it. It’s filled with bright colors, fun prints and summertime ready styles.

More bright colors. I don’t think I’ve owned anything with neon in it in a decade or more. I’ve quickly changed that over the last several months. I can’t stop twirling in this Sloane midi Lilly Pulitzer dress, below.

Bold prints? Yes please. I never realized but a large portion of the clothes I own are solid prints. Well, I’ve changed thatup for sure. I’ve been embracing some over the top prints in my recent purchases. I’m especially loving the Postcards from Positano one from Lilly Pulitzer (below). It reminds me of Cinque Terre where T and I went for our honeymoon. (Stay tuned… As we’re approaching our anniversary, as I’m going to feature some throwbacks on here from our honeymoon travels with posts about our amazing trip from 2015.)

Don’t forget your feet! Typically prone to very basic tones for footwear, pastel flats haven’t been on my must buy list. I waited until I had some credits and got some Begonia Rothy’s flats. I’ll admit, at first they sat in the box. I’ve never worn such a distinct color on my feet. It felt weird. Too extreme. Now that I have them out though, I can’t stop wearing them! (If you’ve been wanting to get a pair yourself, click here for $20 off your first pair. #Obsessed.)

Happy summer to you!

Oh my gosh at one point I had 38 Lilly Dresses. Now I’m a mom of 3 boys and wear a lot of more practical options! Our bodies change, but it means we brought babies into this world and that’s a beautiful thing!

These are such cute items! It’s crazy how our bodies and styles change over time. I barely wear any of the same items I did before I had my kids.
