It’s been a while since I’ve shared some monthly faves, but sliding this one in under the wire before we find ourselves in April! Lots of fun things popped up throughout March and sharing a few of the best of the best, below.
Current Read: Allison Winn Scotch’s Cleo McDougal Regrets Nothing
I will confess this has been my Q1 read moreso than a March read. Reading has been very hard for me this year. Too much is going on at the moment, and I don’t have the focus to sit down and read for a prolonged period of time. However, I’m loving this book which is all about a female politician confronting some mistakes in her past, which I managed to score an advanced reader copy of. It’s always refreshing to have a strong smart female protagonist to root for (with flaws, of course) and even better that she’s showing politicians can have a heart. Looking forward to seeing how this one ends.
Best entertainment from your couch: Mike Birbiglia’s Worldwide Comedy Pizza Party
Comedy show from home? Check! We went to Mike Birbiglia’s Worldwide Comedy Pizza last week and it was absolutely hilarious. Really enjoyed Mike’s movie Sleepwalk with Me and had never seen him do standup, so when T found this it was the perfect opportunity to do so. Mike’s love of pizza is unparalleled and this show essentially focused on pizza was a fun way to spend yet another night at home. If you want to check it out for yourself, there are a few more opportunities to do so coming up in April!
Favorite workout find: Eleven by Venus Wonder Woman Bra
This is something I’ve eyed for a long time, as it’s popped up on some of the Peloton instructors over the last few months. It is simply stunning. And of course it keeps selling out! The Eleven by Venus site doesn’t have it any more but it periodically will pop up on the Saks Fifth Avenue site, and it’s on there now in select sizes. It’s so worth every penny. The most recent time it popped up I couldn’t pass it up again. I love the detailing and the fully mesh back with just a bit of gold criss-cross going down.
Beauty fave: Laura Mercier + IT Cosmetics
Oh why hello, lighter weight makeup. I know the warm temps aren’t even fully firmly here in the northeast but now that I’ve had a few outdoor runs in run skirts, I have summertime on the brain. That’s meant shedding my usual favorite CC cream in favor of a lighter approach. These days I’m all about IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination (I can’t go fully lightweight) and Laura Mercier‘s tinted moisturizer for all over my face. The tinted moisturizer has definitely grown on me. It’s super lightweight and has broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen built in. Win/win.
Favorite Food Find: Lumpia at Common Lot
Common Lot is one of our favorites, so we ware always on the lookout for new and interesting things to pop up on their menu and this month, lumpia made an appearance. We’ve been spoiled to previously only have this made by a friend’s mom who makes it especially well, so we were curious to give it a try. The only thing I didn’t like about this dish was that it’s not something regularly available on their menu! The dipping sauce was so bright and flavorful and the lumpia itself had just the right amount of crunch outside. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
Currently on repeat: Taylor Swift’s Folklore & Evermore
Ok, so I’m pretty late to the party on TSwift’s recent releases. Earlier in the pandemic I turned on folklore and it put me to sleep. When December rolled around and evermore came out, same thing. I found both of them a confusing, non-exciting departure from Taylor Swift’s usual music, listening to only a few tracks before jumping ship. Now? I turn it on several times a week and use it to calm myself down when I’m having a rough week and can’t get enough. I don’t have any explanation on my 180 other than to say it’s love now.
What are you loving these days?
