Next up: Boston Marathon for stroke awareness

November 16, 2024 by Lara Leave a Comment

It happening — I’m training for my next challenge, the Boston Marathon! After running NYC, I found myself trying to think of the next challenge I could work towards and it immediately struck me as my choice.

Somehow, once I got through my first marathon, I immediately found myself trying to find my next challenge. Why not try for the 6 stars of the Abbott World Majors? The hardest to check off seemed to be Boston — since as a slow runner, I would never time qualify (even by age 80+…) and it also has the highest fundraising commitment for a charity spot. I decided immediately that was going to be my next challenge.

I was reading about Tedy’s Team as I looked into the different charities and I immediately knew that they were the one for me! Tedy’s Team was founded by 3X Super Bowl Champ and 2X stroke survivor Tedy Brushci. Such a legend and the work Tedy’s Team has done to help support both stroke awareness and support for survivors on their comeback is so amazing. I’m thrilled to be able to play a small part of it all — and to run in our daughter’s honor.

I knew no one on the team and just applied to throw my name into the consideration pool. And assumed nothing would come of it.

But I was wrong!! I got a phone call from a number I didn’t recognize — and I ignored it, like I always do since I get so many spam calls. But this was one I returned because it was to offer me a spot!

I’m so thrilled to be running for Tedy’s Team and can’t wait to share more about my journey and about this amazing organization. Let’s go!!!
