It’s been a long month since moving and I’ve been a bit MIA on here ever since. Hard to feel as creative when we are scrambling to make our sag through organizing everything to get our hands out of all of the things while finishing so many things on selling our old home. It’s been nonstop. Catching up on a backlog of content so get ready for lots more coming your way – starting with a rundown of a bunch of fun things from the inexpensive new desk I found to the Peloton classes that have helped to reinvigorate my fitness routine. Here we go!
Top house finds
We’ve had to pick up so many things already just to make the house work and I’ve already found some that have made the spaces feel more like a home. I’m loving my new tiny(ish) desk (4NM from Amazon.) I’ve added to the little nook in my room for my new WFH space and weekend writing desk. It’s super cute, classy and has a perfect layout. I’m excited about having the space because it’s already getting me excited about the idea of really diving back into longer-form writing after being on an unintended hiatus for much longer than I’d like to disclose.
For some simpler options, I’m also loving this Threshold felt laundry hamper from Target. It’s perfect for us to use for the kids in the bathroom — fill it off and it’s easy to drag up to do laundry. Looks great and super helpful for moving from point A to B. These basic curtains from Amazon were also a helpful find for us for the big front window of our house. We are no longer on display – yay!
Currently on repeat: Taylor’s re-recorded version of Red
Specifically a lot of that 10 minute version of All Too Well. Woo boy. I wasn’t sure o had enough focus these day for a 10 minute cut of just about anything (except for perhaps a rare live version of something from Tori Amos) but my Spotify stats on this would indicate otherwise.
I honestly didn’t really know the original but I’m loving both the re-recorded original and new longer-length cuts. Think that Kate Kennedy hit the nail on the head in some of her recent T-Swift related podcast content on this one. Listening to it to me isn’t about focusing on any old relationship. It’s about being nostalgic for a time when this consumed so much of my life — remembering what really was a much simpler time than I then realized.
Recent Peloton class faves
Between hurting my knee a bit in my recent half marathon to the move, I had a bit of an unintended Peloton hiatus but I am back! There have been so many great classes I’ve taken recently as I’ve been getting back into a routine of it all. I’ve definitely been giving myself lots of grace to listen to my body, do what I need to do for me and tune out that almost always pesky leaderboard from pushing me to do what I don’t need to do right now for me.
I’ve been taking lots of Cody as always (and looking forward to his return into the regular studio in the coming weeks) but I think my recent faves are all Robin. Really loved her 45 minute Beyoncé ride (that outfit!) and her 11/5 30 minute outdoor intervals run. Both were super inspiring and helped me to feel empowered and challenged, just the way I needed to be.
Athleisure / running gear faves
I just got my first ever Lux item from Oiselle, this V-Formation track jacket, and I’m loving it so much. It’s super soft and perfect for me to wear as I get warmed up on the bike these colder months. Can’t recommend it enough! I got mine through the Volée store but they have it on the general Oiselle site as well. I’m also loving these “glovers” they sell, which turn all of your regular running shirts into ones with thumb holes. GENIUS!
