in late January, I took my hundredth Peloton ride. My husband tackled naptime solo with our two kids so I could clip-in in real-time with Ally Love’s Sundays with Love. I ride in our basement, which isn’t the most beautiful of backdrops. I bought all kinds of “100” decorations and hung them from our low ceiling. Definitely helped to brighten it up for the occasion. Two of my fellow NYC new mom group members joined with me – one cross-country in Cali also taking her hundredth and another from NYC. I also had some of the amazing ladies from our Pelo – Bachelor Nation Facebook group join in as well, passing high fives all around.
I usually ride replays at 5:15AM. I learned over the last 50+ days that taking this time for “me” is the way to make fitness a true part of my life — and it’s made an amazing difference! However it means live rides aren’t usually an option for me. I’d forgotten just how much energy there is when you get to join in realtime! I realized after I clipped in that I didn’t have any water in the basement, but didn’t want to miss any of the class so powered through, even getting a PR.
For ride #150, I decided that the basement just wasn’t gonna cut it. I reached out to the Short Hills showroom super last minute when I realized I’d be hitting this milestone this weekend and they signed me up to come celebrate in style in their store. They even woke up early to make sure I still had some balloons in the store, such a sweet and memorable touch!
I had major flashbacks to the 2013 SEAK Foundation Sports Bra Challenge I did with Anna O’Brien where we did a spin class in the middle of NYC’s Union Square. Instead of being in a park this time though I was in the window of the Peloton store in the mall, busy with a lot of passers by curious as to what I was doing. (They had a number of questions as to if I worked for them and if I was really taking a class — that would be a no and a big YES!).
The class was amazing. Cody didn’t disappoint, as always. The music in his 30 minute pop ride was great and the energy of people cheering me on in the store and from the connections I’ve made from several Facebook groups (Fit Fabulous 40s, Pelo Motherfunners and 6AMMamas) made it easy to push well pass my prior 30 minute best to a new PR. It was so much fun. I already can’t wait to go back to the showroom for another visit when I hit that 200 mark!
