Continuing our recent tradition, we loaded the kids up in the car and set off for an afternoon activity. This weekend’s destination was Long Valley and then Bedminster on our way back home.
Ort Farms – Summer Harvest Celebration
We have been to Ort Farms before for pumpkin picking, so this was our second time there. This weekend was their Summer Harvest Celebration.

We got there on the early side of the event, which featured a lucky duck draw, face painting, sundae bar, cookie decorating, a cow train, and more. The kids really enjoyed making their own cookies and shooting the water guns at each other in the sun.

They also had several animals out for the kids to pet — from rabbits to sheep to goats to chickens. The baby goat was my favorite!

Before we left, they had to climb on the various things they had set up, which included large wooden tractor, pirate ship and school bus.

Of course we had to stop in their store. Out of our recent stops, we were extra impressed by their vegetable selection. We got some local heirloom tomatoes, peaches, sweet corn, zucchini, squash and honey, among other things.

Burnt Mills Cider Company

Stop number two on the way back was Burnt Mills Cider Company. We have driven by it so many times but never been in — and today was the day.

It was quite crowded but i was able to find a parking spot not too far away. The tasting room was really nice but I just ran in to get some ciders to bring home.

They had 14 different ciders available for tasting in their tasting room. We had to head back though so I picked up two of their four-packs — the Jersey Blue which is made with New Jersey blueberries and the Hibiscus rosé. The Jersey Blue is on the lighter side — subtle flavor and not as sweet as many ciders I have had. I’m curious to give the other a try!
