I’m not sure why it has taken me all these summer Fridays to finally plan this, but the weekend before last I took off the full day to make a trip to Sea Girt and Spring Lake. We have typically taken family trips to Long Branch, but I wanted to see if we should bring the kids here instead.
The Scone Pony
I made a pitstop on the way down to Sea Girt at the Scone Pony. I’ll admit it was mainly because I liked the name but also because I don’t think I’ve seen another spot focus on scones! I figured it was a nice easy option for something to pickup and take with me to the beach. (I should note I learned no food is allowed on the beach at Sea Girt so I ate it at the tables in front of the Pavilion before I entered the beach.)
The selection was great. I had the white chocolate with raspberry, which had white chocolate chips inside and a fresh raspberry swirl on top. I also got a blueberry scone with lemon icing that I slipped in the cooler to bring back. Both were delicious.

Sea Girt Public Beach
I arrived around 10AM — later than I originally had hoped but still ended up being early enough to find a parking spot. That is the main downside I noticed — parking is somewhat limited and goes quickly.
I loved the vibe of the beach. It was very clean and nice and quiet. We have been to beaches where the crowd was noisy with music blaring. None of that here! I was able to peacefully read for hours uninterrupted. Ah, mission accomplished.
A must have for me for a beach is easy access to restrooms, and Sea Girt delivers. Their pavilion also has a concession stand which sells a number of things from iced coffee to sofas to quesadillas to fish tacos (sadly they were out of the latter when I was there.)
They offer passes for the season or day passes. I did the latter. $11.98 well spent, I’d say. They don’t accept cash and you can either buy ahead on their website or via a QR code as you enter the beach.

The Parker House
When I decided to come to Sea Girt, I knew I had to check out The Parker House as well. Part of the perfect beach day off for me is some kind of seafood. I hated to spend time waiting to eat when I could be down by the water, but when the snack stand at the pavilion was out of their fish tacos, I took it as a sign.
Their winding patio around the outside of the restaurant is their outdoor seating. That is basically where everyone was eating when I was there. I did have to wait about 30 minutes, but not too bad — and their lobster roll and fries were totally worth it.

Spring Lake Shops
Before heading home, I had to go back through Spring Lake and check out some of the super cute shops I saw on my way in to Sea Girt. Barefoot, a store with athleisure, was an instant love as they had so many items from one of my favorite brands you typically have to get online — Free People Movement. I’m also determined to make it to eat at A.M. Kitchen because it was crazy busy during breakfast and looks super cute.
My favorite out of the shops though was Waterlily. They had so many cute colorful items. Thankfully they were having an end lf summer sale and I picked up this cute shirt I wore to the Snyder’s Farm Food Truck & Music Festival. So fun. Will definitely make a trip back soon with the family.
