stone house at stirling ridge

August 6, 2022 by Lara Leave a Comment

For T’s birthday, I wanted to find a new place for us to go for dinner. I’d always been curious about Stone House at Stirling Ridge, which has often come up in my search so was excited for us to go for another nice night out after our recent date night at Publick House for our anniversary. It often is mentioned for also having separate space for weddings and other events.

Outdoor Seating

Another reason it stood out to me is their outdoor seating. Reviews explained that not only do they have outside seating but it’s nice, open and plentiful. When you book your reservation on OpenTable, they make it easy to book specifically for outdoor.

Wooden round tables and lighter weight chairs surround the outside patio at Stone House.

I was stressed out the day we went because it was going to rain, but it ended up being for no reason. A large portion of their outdoor seating is under a cover, which is very helpful.

Cocktails

I would recommend Stone House at Stirling Ridge for a special occasion. We enjoyed the appetizer selection a bit more than the mains.

They have a fun cocktail menu that slants on the sweeter side. I tried two cocktails and really enjoyed them both. I started with the Purple Rain, which was Empress Gin 1908, lemon, St, Germain elderflower and egg white. Next I had the Derby Remix, which was bourbon, Campari, lemon, honey, absinthe and grapefruit soda. The first was a bit sweeter and the flavor had notes that reminded me of sweet tarts (in a good way) whereas the second was more spirit forward.

Appetizers

I started off with the goat cheese croquettes, which included a beet puree, saffron chili honey, bitter greens and vincotto.

We have also been craving some gazpacho this summer so we had to order theirs — a strawberry and tomato gazpacho with pickled red onion, jalapeño, garden strawberry and garden tomato.

Spicy Kani, tuna, salmon, avocado and masago

I’d read mixed reviews online about the sushi but we decided to give it a try since T is always trying to find a go to spot for it out here. Sadly it’s not going to be Stone Home. It was a low light of the meal, though it photographs so beautifully.

Main course

Slow roasted cauliflower with black garlic tahini glaze, carrot purée, kale, red pepper and coconut yogurt

For our main, we went with the cauliflower and it was outstanding. We were actually quite full by the time it arrived (and I really wanted dessert) so we ended up bringing it home. I can confirm it was great as well the next day! It was a large portion of slow roasted cauliflower, served with a black garlic tahini glaze, carrot purée, kale, red pepper and coconut yogurt.

Dessert

Almond frangipane, creme anglaise, raspberry sorbet

For dessert, we tried the raspberry tart, which was made with frangipane, creme anglaise, raspberry sorbet. This was one of the best desserts I’ve had lately. So much flavor and not overly sweet. Home run! The sorbet was a highlight.

We closed the restaurant down, which made for a perfect opp for a photo! We will bs back for sure – likely for cocktails with friends and to hopefully experience the end of the evening al fresco complimentary s’mores!
