[giveaway] teeth whitening with smile brilliant

November 28, 2017 by Lara 18 Comments

There are three things I firmly believe are necessary for successful parenting – a great partner, a support network of family/friends, and caffeine. Lots of caffeine. T supported number three with a beautiful push gift – an espresso machine from Breville. And boy has it served its purpose. We’ve plowed through coffee from Birch, Eataly and, most recently, Orleans Coffee. Unlike cappuccinos I’ve bought at coffee shops, making them at home means I can get a perfect rich and thick layer of foam. Those of you who have visited us at our new home know that I’m pretty obsessed with this.

It also means it’s super easy to have not one but two in a morning – which, though lovely, has meant my pearly whites as of late have been looking a tad… well, dull. Know he feels the same as well.

When Smile Brilliant reached out to offer trying their professional teeth whitening system, the answer was an emphatic yes. As a thank you for his kind gift, I decided T would be the one doing the whitening this round. I also technically wasn’t eligible to do it myself. (Nursing mamas, important to note that this hasn’t been tested yet for your use. Recommendation is to wait until you’ve finished nursing to start using their product – just to be safe.)

The kit with everything to get started quickly arrived in a small box. All you had to do was to mix together two pastes Smile Brilliant provides (catalyst and base) to form the impression material. So easy. We sent those back to Smile Brilliant and within a matter of days, T had custom whitening trays to start the process. No need to go into an office to get this taken care of, which means he can do it as we’re unpacking at the new house or cleaning that seemingly endless mound of bottles.

As a part of the process, you can whiten at your own pace. T chose to do a couple of applications a week. These days, we have such limited free time and the idea of going to do this in-person at the dentist? No way. That would have never been possible. Smile Brilliant allows you to achieve at home the same results that you used to have to do in-person at the dentist and the impact is 3-5x faster. Win-win!

The process is easy – only 6 steps, ideally done at bedtime as you’re going through your evening routine.

  1. Brush teeth with water only (fluoride in your toothpaste can slow the whitening process.)
  2. Whiten for anywhere between 45 mins-3 hours.
  3. Brush teeth with toothpaste like normal.
  4. Do a desensitizing gel session for 15-30 minutes (great for those who have sensitive teeth.
  5. Remove trays but don’t rinse or brush for 20 minutes…just spit (you will note that this will leave a thin layer of desensitizing gel on your teeth – this is okay.)
  6. Sleep! It is the best to whiten before bed so the desensitizing gel has time to absorb into teeth and you are not introducing any food/drink that could stain.

GIVEAWAY ALERT!

As a part of my partnership with Smile Brilliant, I’m giving away one custom whitening kit for one lucky reader of Grits in the City! Visit here to enter. Giveaway will be open for one week, ending at 11:59PM EST on Tuesday, December 5th. Good luck!

Even if you do not win, you can all use code “gritsintecity” to get 20% off of your own custom trays! Check out more on their process at smilebrilliant.com.

I was not compensated for this post, but my husband did receive a complimentary whitening kit along with custom whitening trays. This is our honest review of our experience with Smile Brilliant’s product and with their team.

I have never used an at home teeth whitening system purchased on my own. I used one from my dentist before I got married and it worked so well. I think I need to look into this for home for my and my kids. After their braces cam off, their teeth are super stained

Totally understand – post-braces is a great time for something like this. I remember when mine came off and I wanted as many people as possible to see the end result!

The before and after seems to show a lot of improvement. I use all-natural whitening toothpaste at home with essential oils and that has also been working great! This would be interesting to try out.

I’m super glad to know something like this exists because I always end up going to a medical spa to have mine done and it’s way pricier than this system! Looks like it also had some great results!

Yes, it’s amazing how far these types of things have come! Hope you got some great results though with the spa option you did. Can’t beat a good smile 🙂

I recently used an at home whitening kit and was so happy with the results – the only annoying thing now is that stains show up so much more on my super white teeth haha! this looks like a great product

Too funny – agree, definitely a downside – but so great to have those bright shiny teeth though!

I need this!! So I drink coffee but not a ton but I do drink a lot of Diet Dr Pepper and tea so my tea are so discolored. I would love to try a system like this. I have tried the strips and they just dont do much. I would love to win this for the holidays!

I’m a fellow Diet Dr. Pepper drinker (obsessed) so I feel your pain. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for sharing this review. I’ve tried whitening trays before (not this brand) and had good results. However, my teeth are quite sensitive so I started oil pulling instead and am happy with the results. I love your Mom Life coffee mug – so cute!

I have been blessed with white teeth that don’t discolore. However I do get coffee stains on the inside, I wonder if they would go that way with this product.

This is great! I’ve been doing some research on home whitening kits because I can definitely use it! I like that this one comes with a desensitizing gel, my teeth are very sensitive and that has been holding me back on buying one!

Yes, agree. I have sensitive teeth so that was one of the first thing I looked for when I was looking into Smile Brilliant. Loved that it works great and works with sensitive teeth. So important.

This is the first time I’ve heard of a home whitening kit. Going to recommend it to my friends who live in the US.
