The finish line for the week is almost here… hold on. Just a few more hours to go!
There’s lots going on over the weekend and the coming weeks in the food scene. The Feast of San Gennaro is back, which means there’s lots of tasty things to be had lining the streets in Little Italy. Only 11 more days to take advantage. This rundown helps you know what’s happening when. This weekend is definitely one for food festivals. You can have your pick of Pig Island (Saturday), the Vendy Awards (Saturday – already sold out), Taste Talks Brooklyn’s All-Star BBQ with Quest Love (Sunday), TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint (Sunday), and OysterFest (Sunday).
Tailgating season is back in full force! If you’re having a crew over, some great options for this week include these fabulous looking frozen sangria pops, my favorite homemade oatmeal cream pies, a simple fruit cobbler, or a big pot of chili. Not sure who you’re rooting for this weekend, but I’ll be seeing houndstooth (Roll Tide!) and be ringing my cowbell (Hail State!).
Looking to try out a new spot over the weekend? Hot new-comer Fuku is one I can’t wait to try. (Almost) has me thinking about donuts, and when it comes to that, I’ve got Underwest Donuts at the top of my next-to-try list. Looking for a midday spot or a quicker bite? The bagel and lox at Sadelle’s in SoHo (same team behind Torrisi Italian Specialties, Parm and Carbone) looks unreal, and the East Village’s Black Seed had me at mention of a pizza bagel. Likely not for this weekend, but perhaps worth looking into reservations for Aldea now that it’s re-opened (we were impressed when we went before, so curious what the revamp entails).
Hope this weekend is a lovely relaxing one, wherever this finds you!
