I have to admit it. We are guilty. Too often, our weekends are planned around errands. It’s the only time we have for grocery shopping, anything we need for the house, the next size of clothing for Q as he continues to grow like a weed… you name it. It’s our reality but that doesn’t make for fun days for Quinn. We’ve been working on changing that and prioritizing planning some toddler activities each weekend.
Toddler Gyms
Over Easter weekend, we planned out some things with him in mind. On Friday, his daycare was closed – so I took off and we had a mommy and Q day. We slept late(ish) and then I took him to a trial class at My Gym. It was pretty crowded, with I’m sure other folks off of work for the same.
The class was called “Waddlers” and is for kids 14 to 22 months. They did some basic tumbling and hanging from a bar. They did some balance work (Q was not a fan, as he couldn’t quite get it). There was a ball pit and several slides. We put them in hanging swings, which Q loved until he suddenly became super over it. We did stretches with the kids and a few songs with motions.
Overall it was fabulous. Quinn loved being able to run around and do just about anything he wanted. He wasn’t as interactive with the other kids as he is with his fellow classmates at preschool but I believe that would change over time. The first class is free. Beyond that, there’s a registration fee and a monthly fee, with a three month commitment. Something we will keep in mind for winter months!
Chuck E. Cheese’s
Saturday we made our first family trip to Chuck E. Cheese’s! We met my dad, my sister, brother-in-law and nephew for several hours of fun
I have to say, the pizza there wasn’t half-bad
These are just the beginning. There are so many local activities that are coming up with the warmer weather that will make great toddler activities – and give us a reason to explore some neighboring towns.
What do you do to keep weekends entertaining for your little one(s)?
