Manhattan is known for all things tiny. A closet elsewhere can be enough here to be used as a room. When it comes to finding restaurants here large enough to accommodate a whole slew of strollers, it can be more than a bit challenging. Thank goodness for Almond.
My new mom’s group via The Moms Groups has already made a couple of visits to this fabulous Flatiron restaurant. I’d only been for brunch before, but have since learned how lovely their lunch is. Midday lunch is such a treat – an excellent selection without the crowd that often comes with brunch. They even have a prix fixe option they offer if you’re looking for multiple courses.
I’ve tried a few things thus far off of their lunch menu. I had their turkey burger, which was a nice sized patty accompanied by french fries and a small salad. The burger is the perfect size – not too thin and not so thick as to be hard to eat.
On the next visit, I had their cavatelli, which I highly recommend. The dish is made with veal and pork sausage with bitter greens and tomato concasse. I learned as a bonus for moms, it’s much easier to eat one-handed with a fussy baby!
We’ve learned this is a great spot for a group. They’ve been super accommodating to us – giving us a large table in the back and happily accommodating our group of 16, 8 being babies 3 months or younger. They have baby food on the menu and a bathroom with a changing table. I think I’m in love!
