Over the holidays, we had both my parents and my mother-in-law in town at different points. Neither T nor I had been to Urbanspace Vanderbilt. We’d heard great things about Delaney Chicken, so thought it was a great opportunity to give it a shot.
On our first visit, we had to start with Delaney Chicken. Both T and I really enjoyed our visit to Briskettown so we figured that we would love his take on fried chicken as well.
The portion size is very generous and it was clearly a fresh piece of chicken with both white and dark meat. The hot sauce really made this one, adding just the right amount of kick. Be sure to also try their Arnold Palmer. The iced tea is homemade as well, which tastes perfect when balanced with the tartness of the lemonade. The only part we found underwhelming were the sides – all of which had no real flavor to them.
On our second visit, we were super excited to try the lobster mac ‘n cheese at Red Hook Lobster Pound. We had a bit of a surprise here though when our $18 main dish came out in a tiny paper carton usually used by restaurants like Brother Jimmy’s for a side dish.
The five-cheese sauce had very little flavor to it – tasting only like milk and flour. The only thing good about this dish was the bacon. We will definitely not be back to this spot.
There are so many other great spots in this space. I’m a big fan of Dough. Other spots include Roberta’s Pizza, Mile End, Kuro-Obi (from the team behind Ippudo), and Sigmund’s Pretzels. This was super hoppin’ after work, so would be a great spot to hit up for happy hour!
